Treaty of waitangi 

The Maori people had there land for over 500 years but in 1769 people had arrived in New Zealand.

In 1840 the treaty was signed. But in 1845 the new Zealand war began.

In 1906 a man named James Carroll did a speech at parliament

In 1960 waiting day became a public holiday in New Zealand.    

 These are some of the important dates of the treaty of Waitangi
